Metro Medical Direct was founded in the summer of 2009 in an effort to establish a health care practice where the patient is the focus of attention. As health care costs escalate health care providers are rendering less and less care to more and more patients. As a result many health care providers do not take the time to listen to their patients, and instead rely on excessive diagnostic testing; further aggravating the problem. For this reason Metro Medical Direct has opted out of the bureaucracy of 3rd party billing. Patients can always speak to the primary care provider. Electronic communication is used to make life easier for both the patient and provider. Recommendations are made based on best practices as opposed to what an administrator is willing to cover. Less costly but equally effective alternatives can be explored. The patient is empowered to participate actively in their health care. Most patients that use Metro Medical Direct have health insurance. For these patients insurance is used to cover more costly expenses like diagnostics, lab work, hospitalizations, surgery and medications.
Metro Medical Direct services are provided by a board certified nurse practitioner that can perform all of the services that you would find in a traditional family doctor's office or urgent care facility, including: blood work, X-rays, ultrasound, and EKG. All services can be performed in the comfort of your home, office or hotel.
Once a diagnosis is made you can begin treatment immediately. All patients get a follow up communication (phone call, secure email, or text message) in 24 and 48 hours to insure that your condition is improving. Patients can also get a private video link which reviews the specific details of your visit so that you can share information with concerned loved ones. With your permission, Metro Medical Direct can also communicate with your primary care provider.
Metro Medical Direct offers the Virtual Office Visit (Email consultations and Web Camera) allowing you to take your PCP with you when traveling for business or vacation. Established primary care patients have the convenience of a concierge medical practice without the high priced retainer. Familiar care can be available when you need it most.
Metro Medical Direct puts the emphasis on early diagnosis, prevention and risk reduction. Instead of just offering the traditional paternalistic advice on how to exercise and eat right the nurse practitioner (experienced chef, and military officer) can show you how to shop, cook, eat, and start exercising.
